Rosie O'Donnell: A Big Gay Blessing

I wanted to take a moment and express my "pride" in one of our own, ROSIE O'DONNELL.  I love Rosie, and I always have!  However, I wasn't sure if her presence on the View would be positive or negative for the gay community.

Rosie has really impressed me, and so have the other hosts at the View.  In my gossip blog at the GossipParty.blog, I provide detailed stories and blurbs about the View... so I follow the show closely.  I really enjoy it too!!  I love it that Rosie and her co-hosts (JOY BEHAR, ELISABETH HASSELBACH, BARBARA WALTERS) openly address Rosie's homsexuality.

Notice I even mentioned Elisabeth.  Those of you who are familiar with the Gossip Party, know that I haven't been to keen on Elisabeth in the past; but she doesn't seem to uncomfortable having to sit beside Rosie.  Maybe her agent told her she can't catch it, maybe she is trying to be more open minded.  Whatever she is doing is working.

Hats off to the View, the hosts, ABC and the viewers for putting the LGBT community in the spotlight and on a positive note!

AIDS Testing for All

The United States Government recommended near-universal testing for the AIDS virus on Thursday. Anthony Lago, tells how the government hopes to get Amerians tested more thoroughly and more often.

by Anthony Lago, Managing Editor

The United States government recommended a nearly universal testing system for the AIDS virus on Thursday. Government officials believe too many people are slipping through the cracks in the current system that focuses on only those who are "high risk."

Under the proposed system, everyone between 13 and 64 years old will be screened. Pregnant women will get extra screenings to ensure that they don't pass the virus on to their unborn baby.

More than one million people in the United States alone are infected with the AIDS virus, and the Center for Disease Conrol believes that number increases by 40,000 people per year. Many people who have the AIDS virus don't realize it, because the symptoms are so mild at first.

CDC Director Dr. Julie Gerberding told Reuters that people with HIV need to know so they can seek treatment and protect their partners. "We urgently need new approaches to reach the quarter-million Americans with HIV who do not realize they are infected," she added.

There is currently no cure for AIDS. Infected people run a high risk of passing the virus on to sex partners and in blood or shared needles. Once- and twice-a-day single pills can keep patients healthy.

Currently those people considered high risk such as gay men are encouraged to get tested regularly for the virus.

Universal AIDS Testing, a Step Forward!

Anthony Lago, reported, the United States Government is proposing that all regular doctor check ups include an AIDS test.

This means that every time that each of us go to the doctor's office, we'll be tested for HIV/ AIDS. Its a bold move, but I strongly support their recommendation.

In today's world, we are all at risk of being infected with HIV and contracting the AIDS virus. In the 80's it was ignored as a 'gay thing,' but today I can say that I'm proud that the government finally realizes that we're all at risk.

I, personally, have been teased for getting tested too often. I figure its better safe than sorry. I pretty much ask to be tested at every check-up. It's not because I have a lot of sexual partners or because I'm promiscous. I get tested, because I want to know.

About 20% of the millions of people who have AIDS don't even know it. That's one statistic in which I don't want to be included! I will admit that I'm a little too paranoid. I mean after all I didn't shower at the gym for three months after I walked in on two guys who were making out in the steam room. I know I can't get infected by seeing two men kiss, but I cringe every time I think about what else might happen there.

The government officials who made this reccomendation have to be commended for their efforts. Sexually active Americans should be voluntarily tested on a regular basis. Tests are covered my most insurance agencies and are given for free at most state health departments.

Most importantly, its vital for everyone to practice safe sex. If you're sexually active, then you are at risk of getting AIDS. Do all that you can to protect yourself now before its too late.

Nightclub Gossip Party: Are some new parties on the horizon?

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm constantly screaming for something NEW NEW NEW!!!  I moved to New York for the glitz, the glamor, the hot parties!  I've know for almost as long as I've been alive that I'd make the move from Dixie to the Big Apple, and I'm very vocal that I want my expectations met.

I want trend setting fashion, I want a loud sexy crowd, and I want unique new parties.. so of course, I want to be the first to tell you about some new events I've heard about for fall!

I want to start with a big sigh of relief!  I told you on Thursday that Avalon was closed because they owed some back taxes.  I've been informed that the pad locks are off the doors.  One thing that will never change is that Avalon (formerly known as Limelight) will also bring back memories for all of the "old school" partiers.  I truly believe that partying in an old church is something that everyone should experience at least once.  If you're like me, you were a bit relieved to hear that Spirit was closed so that John Blair, Beto Sutter and Alan Picus could move their Sunday night soirée back to Avalon where it belongs!

Have you ever seen the gay flick titled Trick?  Its the age old story of guy meets guy, but they have no where to hook-up.  A cute little couple flutters across the city trying to find a place to get off.  No, its not the best story line;

but TORI SPELLING is one of the stars so its definitely worth seeing.  I have a point, so I'll make it:  it's set in New York City and the main character hits the club scene right after work.  He goes to his favorite little spot and gets an early start to a night long party.  We don't really do that hear as much as we should!  From what I hear, that's the new plan for Sunday evenings in Manhattan.  I'm told we're gonna want to start early before heading to Avalon starting in October.  I've stumbled across this hot little kitschy joint a few blocks up from Avalon called Porky's.  It reminds me of something you'd see while on Spring Break at the beach... the DJ booth is trailer...  do I need to say more?  The owners there tell me that soon they'll open their doors on Sunday night starting early so you can party all night long.  They'll have an open bar, those huge fish bowl drinks and a confetti thrower.  I love confetti!!  Anyway, it sounds like true New York City fun; and its definitely something you can't find anywhere else!  I'm very excited, and I'll do what I can to make sure all of my readers are free!!  You know how it is...

I'm still loving the Tuesday night party at Boysroom too, by the way.  It has some crazy energy that I haven't seen anywhere else, and its free with 2-for-1 drinks... so you really have nothing to lose.  I love the Nintendo on the big screen, and I challenge you all to a competitive game of Super Mario Brothers!!  This week we're wrapping fashion week with the guys from Colby CO models.  They tell me they're bringing the twister board, so come by an lets see what happens.

If free isn't good for you, then you can pay to get in on Thursday as DREW and what's left of his Detention party join JON JON BATTLES' party this Thursday.  I'm not sure what Jon Jon gets out of this, because from what I've seen his party was just fine without a new promoter... and a cover.  A part of me had hoped Drew would create something new; but he's been in a constant battle since he lost most of his staff, patrons and former business partner, ALAN PICUS earlier this year.  Alan left Detention to form his own Thursday night mega party at Splash.  Drew's party has suffered since.

There's also a lot of gossip going around about what could happen on Saturdays.  We thought John Blair was going to abandon Roxy for Avalon on Saturdays, but I doubt that will happen since he's moved his Sunday party there.  Maybe things have settled down over at Roxy and his highly successful dance party can stay at the venue that made it famous.  Heaven Saturdays is plugging a "Rebirth" to take place on Sat. Sept. 30th.  I host a weekly show there, and they won't even give me details about what they're doing.  Tonight I heard they were ripping out that 1970s stage on the first floor and replacing it with something more creative and petite.   PEPPER MASHAY headlines the "Rebirth" to perform her hit club song "Dive in the Pool."  So lets go on the 30th and see what a little face lift can do!  The Bank has pretty much tanked, and Mr. Blacks has been left in the dark.  Both of those parties had great starts, but they seem to have fizzled out.

I want to see more creativity.  I love it that 49 Grove opened their doors and let us throw a gay party there on Wednesdays.  Its rare that you find a VIP straight  club that will offer no cover and an open vodka bar for an hour.  Its a great place for a night cap if you hit happy hour and an even better place to start if you're going all night long.

I have to also have to give you some names to look for... I say that because I respect their style, and I feel like they offer fresh and creative options to the New York nightlife.  I also hope you will all try out some of gaysocialites.blog's parties listed on this site.  We are trying to create a variety of parties, each much different from the other!  So, here's my hot list.  Anything with names tagged to it should be pretty hot and innovative:  Mistress Formika Jones, Steve Sidewalk, Suzanne Barcsh, John Blair, Alan Picus, Seth Gold, Mimi Imfurst, Nikki (of Nikki's Remix), Vito Fun... I'll probably add to this as I think of them!

Try the new parties, and I'll keep you informed as I hear more.

That's all the nightclub gossip I've got, but keep the party going until next time!!

Gay News Anchor Looses His Spot on CNN

CNN Headline news anchor THOMAS ROBERTS came out to the world last weekend at the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association conference in Florida.  While the news didn't really come as a shock to his co-workers who mostly knew about his sexual orientation, some say it may have cost him his anchor job at CNN.

Roberts first came out to his co-workers while reporting at a TV station in Norfolk, VA because he says the timing was perfect.  "I was happy, I was in a relationship, and I was very proud. I had the support of family, and of my friends. He said, "It was … about not wasting any more time. I'd wasted enough time.”  Roberts and his partner are still together and will celebrate their anniversary on Sept. 30th.

So did coming out publicly last weekend cost Roberts his job?  He said it did not.  He says the fact that his timeslot was cancelled on CNN Headline news was purely coincidental.

“No one advised me against doing it. I have no regrets, but I have some concerns about some of the reporting, certain correlations that are being drawn,” he added.

There are very few other "out" journalists, but there are many of them across the nation from local newspaper writers to network news reporters.

The announcement came Tuesday that for budgetary reasons they will cancel the 4–6 p.m. newscast co-anchored by Roberts. He and his co-anchor, KATHLEEN KENNEDY, are evidently being reassigned.

The Gossip Party: Avalon seized and closed... but the party will go on!

Avalon was seized and closed on Wed. Sept. 13th for non-payment of taxes and now belongs to the state of New York.  This comes less than one week after JOHN BLAIR, BETO SUTTER and ALAN PICUS moved their packed Sunday night party back to the historical venue.  The pictures pretty much say it all....

UPDATE:  I spoke with Alan Picus today, and he tells me that the venue has paid its bills so the party goes on this Sunday!!

Gossip Party: Stonewall Not Closing, but Cleaning-up!

Reports and rumors have been flying about the New York Gay Community that the legendary Stonewall nightclub in the West Village is closing.  Wednesday we got word from Drew, the Thursday night promoter, that his "Detention" party had been ousted by the new lease holders.  Drew also says he was told that the club will closing.  Today we've discovered that the lease has changed hands, but the club will not close.

So why are Drew and other promoters being told to find a new home for their parties?  The truth is that Stonewall has been on a consistent down-hill slope for the past few years.  In the late 80's, Dominick Desimone, re-opened Stonewall promising to restore the club to its original heritage as the birth place of "coming out."  The club was the home base of the Stonewall Riots when gays took the streets loud and proud for the first time after being raided by police in 1969.

Desimone, a straight man, had a very unorthodox management style and wasn't the best at maintaining relationships with promoters and bartending staff.  The venue quickly became a home for urban parties as well as the 18 and over college crowd.

Duvell management says the new lessee faces a major challenge right from the start. The establishment is not well respected by its neighbors due to its late night noise levels and the clientèle it attracts.

While we don't yet know the names of the new lessees, I wonder what they will do with the home of the gay liberation movement.   I don't necessarily agree that they should can the current promoters, I think its always great to see a resurgence in any venue or scene.  I wish the promoters best of luck, and I hope the new owners are up for a challenge!

Rosie O'Donnell's Big Gay Debut

After Rosie O'Donnell's big gay debut Tuesday morning on ABC's the View, it appears that the gay community has a lot to look forward to during Rosie's tenure on the show.

There has been a lot of speculation growing among both the gay and "mainstream" media about how "gay" Rosie O'Donnell would appear in her new spot as the show's moderator.

After hearing that ABC set some strict guidelines on her contract that seemed to be anti-gay, I wasn't sure if Rosie would have her rainbow flag flying.

It seems that Rosie will be "Rosie" on the show no matter what even if being gay is a big part of who the new Rosie O'Donnell is.  Rosie seemed to bring gay and lesbian issues to the spotlight today, and from the looks of things... we'll see a lot more of that throughout her tenure at the View.

Rosie brought along her wife, Kelly, and her mother-in-law for opening day.  Both Kelly and her mother were active in the show providing several cut-aways, and Rosie even introduced her in-law during a commerical bump.

Rosie spoke freely about being a gay a parent, and it was evident from the beginning that being gay won't be taboo on the new View set.  All of the hosts (exept right-wingger Elisabeth Hasselbach) discussed Rosie's gay lifestyle, and they did so with a great feeling of ease and comfort.  I thought there might be some awkwardness, but it seemed to be a topic that no one shyed away from.

At the end of the show, they did a package about where Rosie has been. She touched on the media controversies in her life since we've last seen her on TV. To build trust, Rosie opened up about just about everything from her government annulled gay marriage to the magazine lawsuit over her "lesbian hair cut." She admits that her short bulldyker hair of the past was a "mistake" and it even scared her young son. I'm proud of Rosie for being the strong gay woman we've grown to love.

Rosie and Joy Behar have a great joking banter.  At one point Rosie even made a joke about it saying "any you thought I'd have problems with Elisabeth."  Barbara chimed in with "..and you will!"

One of those restrictions that ABC has put on Rosie prevents the "lesbian hair cut" from resurfacing.  Rosie's contract at the View says she must maintain her hair at a certain length that avoids that scary dyke feeling that comes with buzzed short hair on women.

I'm proud of Rosie.  I'm proud of the View co-hosts, and I'm proud of ABC.  Rosie O'Donnell offers something to daytime TV that has been missing for years.  I'm glad to see her in a role where she can be herself while making us laugh and giving away tons of free stuff!

Will Rosie O'Donnell "Gay-Up" the View?

Tuesday morning at approximately 11am Rosie O'Donnell will take her seat the View table over on ABC.  You know I've followed this story closely at www.gossipparty.blog since breaking this story here at GaySocialites.

Now, I wonder if Rosie's new job at the View will do anything for the LGBT community.

The View ladies (sans conservative Elisabeth Hasselbach) have been mostly gay-friendly in their 9-year run, but I wonder how awkward it will be when the girls talk about who they think is "hot" and when Elisabeth blurts out something stupid like "gays shouldn't be allowed to have children."  Will Rosie say she thinks a chick looks "hot," and will she knock Elisabeth off her stool when she "feels so passionately" about something that makes Ro-Ro boil.

Rosie's new job is as "moderator" of the show, and as we all know... Rosie O'Donnell is the farthest thing from conservative.  She is not afraid to stand-up against right-wing conservatives when they try to supress her.  Her predessecor, Meredith Vieira, was the traffic cop and could basically kept both Star Jones and Hasselbach silenced most of the time.  I guess we'll see how Rosie handles things as the new girl.

Rosie's first episode airs on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11pm EST on ABC.

Gossip Party: Nightlife Edition -- The Fall Party Guide

The summer season is always a great time for nightclubs and promoters to try new things especially in the gay scene. If you're just coming back for the fall semester, then I've got tons of changes to tell you about. If you plan on partying hard this fall, then keep reading and keep this as your nightlife survival guide.

What's happened?
In a nutshell, it seems that the gay nightlife scene is migrating away from weekends and more toward weeknights. We're talking about all types of venues from mega clubs to cozy VIP lounges. Even though they've always been there, promoters have never put so much emphasis in week night partying. Yes, I'm referring to wild nights that fall between Monday and Friday.

Weeknight parties have always been reserved for the elite crowds while weekends were known as Bridge & Tunnel.

Defined: Bridge & Tunnel /'brij,'tu-nel/ (adj.): Used to describe party goers who commute into Manhattan from New Jersey and the outer boroughs using a bridge or a tunnel. (Ferries apply too).

That doesn't seem to be the case any more. It seems as though everyone wants a piece of the VIP pie, and promoters are noticing. Let's take a tour through New York City's new hot spots and find out what's really going on at each party!

Tuesdays:
Tuesday nights have somewhat taken over as the start to the party week. In one night you can choose from East Village bars, downtown lounges and even a Chelsea mega club.

If you're looking for Boysroom, don't worry... it didn't go out of business, it simply moved. That's where you can find Steve Sidewalk and the GaySocialites on Tuesday nights. Owner Mistress Formika has taken Boysroom to a much nicer space at 211 Avenue A (on the corner of 13th street). Every Tuesday night, Steve Sidewalk celebrates the best of the 80s, 90s and today with Tragic Tuesdays. I also host the lounge in the back complete with a big screen TV and old school Nintendo. There are classic blasts from the past playing on the TV screens and only the hottest college boys from each campus. There's no cover here with 2-for-1 drinks all night. This spot is 18 to cruise, but you've gotta be 21 to buy booze. You can get more info on this party at gaysocialites.blog.

Bowery Bar is still a long running hot spot for the trendy crowd who likes to get an early start. This party is very much known for its no-frills approach, but it’s definitely still a good place to see or be seen.

If you're not a 9 to 5 type person, across town 80's club icon, Susanne Bartsch has the perfect treat for you with her all-nighter, Happy Valley Tuesdays. Happy Valley was nothing until Bartsch came out of retirement to create a Tuesday night party that might blow your mind. If you can wait until late to get started and not worry about the repercussions the next day, then you should check it out. Bartsch has added a star studded line-up of hosts including Richie Rich, Amanda Lapore and Kenny Kenny. This is perfect for those looking for something a little more upscale and don't mind a selective door. Happy Valley is located at 14 E. 27th Street between 5th and Madison or online at happyvalleynyc.blog.

Wednesdays:
Things don't slow down on Wednesday nights either; as a matter of fact they seem to pick up a little steam. A night that had practically no nightclub events last spring has become one of the hottest nights to hit the town. The early crowd joins me each week at the hottest new lounge in New York City, 49 Grove. In an attempt to offer something that no one else can, the Gay Socialites have teamed up with the people who brought you Pop Rocks to introduce a free, guest list required VIP weekly party. There's no cover if you ask for the Gay Socialites list at the door, and this swanky venue serves up free vodka drinks from 10-11pm followed by $6 drink specials all night. If you're looking to impress someone this is the place to go. You can reserve a table and bottle for 1/2 price all night too! 49 Grove is located in the heart of the West Village at 49 Grove Street (at the corner of Bleeker and Grove).

Also on Wednesday nights right uptown in Chelsea, Mimi Imfurst lights up the night with her weekly Ass Circus at XES. There's no cover here either, and it’s a great place to catch a late show and unwind on hump day. XES is known for playing host to the craziest drag performers and the late night Chelsea-boy crowd that can't seem to get enough partying! XES is online at www.xesnyc.blog and the bar is located at 157 W 24th St between sixth and seventh avenues. Mimi Imfurst is best known for her rendition of the Virgin Mary earlier this year that attracted religious protestors at its Off-Broadway theatre. I've heard she's bringing it back for Christmas, so be on the look out.

Thursdays:
Thursday nights are basically dominated by one party, Campus Thursdays at Splash. You may have gotten a taste of this party when it kicked off in the spring, but if you're just coming back to school you'll definitely want to mark down this hot spot as your Thursday night hangout. Alan Picus, the promoter who brought you Heaven Saturdays and Spirit Sundays, teams up with the hottest college cuties to bring you a weekly bash that is guaranteed to make you skip classes and call out of work on Friday.

Picus announced earlier this year that he would vacate his post on Thursdays at Stonewall to create the biggest Thursday night party in the city's history. He has managed to bring all the hottest nightclub celebs including DJs Steve Sidewalk, Seth Gold, Vito Fun and Mikey Raves. The line-up of hosts has also changed. With rumors circulating that Stonewall will soon close forever, host and hostess J-Roc and Miss Alixandria both jumped ship leaving the Stonewall Detention party to help add to the mayhem of 20+ go-go boys and drinks specials that seem to cause the liquor to flow like water. I must confess that a Thursday night at Splash is guaranteed to ruin my Friday mornings! (And that's not necessarily a bad thing!) For more info on the boy bash, head over to www.boiparty.blog. Splash is located on 17th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Detention still runs at Stonewall on Thursday nights, but from what we hear the place is being closed down because the landlords didn't pay the rent. We've tried contacting the management and several promoters from Stonewall, but the current staff hasn't returned our calls. We have managed to catch a few former Stonewall promoters who tell us their parties have either ended or moved because the club is 'struggling.' Although once known as the place to be on Thursdays, Stonewall has been plagued with trouble all summer long after loosing most of its staff and patrons to Picus' new party at Splash. Details for Stonewall can be found at www.detentionnyc.blog.

Fridays:
Looking for the Friday night craze fest known as Area, Opaline, Shelter, etc?? Let’s start by clearing things up; the party's name is Area. Opaline was its first location in the East Village and Shelter was its second in Midtown. The new location this fall is at 150 Varrick Street in Soho. Mistress Formika is known for taking this party off the beaten path. This venue is a bit different than the others with one extra large dance floor and a lower level lounge. On the main dance floor you can jam to Steve Sidewalk and Jon Jon Battles spinning pop, rock, dance and everything in-between. DJ Adam offers an edgy alternative on the first floor. The place is packed with college cuties and a hint of Johnny McGovern and his well-known debauchery. You can get more details about this party and other parties at the new Boysroom online at www.tripwithus.blog. Formika keeps us wondering why he bounces this party from joint-to-joint... some say it’s because his parties are too wild for the venues others say it’s to keep us guessing. Whatever he's doing seems to be working. Just don't get caught in the bathroom with your pants down... you never know where pictures can end up!!

Friday night is a bit saucy up at Krash in Chelsea too. If you need like to party with the hot Latin boys from time to time, then you have to check out this Friday night insanity. DJs SuperDave, Mike Cruz and more spin high energy house and hip hop music all night long. Even though, I'm not big on weekend parties, I have to check out Krash Fridays occasionally! Its generally very low drama and the chulos love a good white boy every now and again! They're online at www.krashnyc.blog.

Saturdays:
In the past Saturdays have been known as a safe bet to have a wild time. Over the summer, Saturdays have had their ups and downs leaving everyone wondering what's going to happen this fall. Roxy is basically the Saturday night staple, but the management there has been battling to hold on to their liquor license all summer long.

Heaven is always a safe bet for the 18 and over crowd on Saturdays. It is the consistent party where you know you won't ever get turned away at the door (as long as you have an ID!!) Steve Sidewalk is on the main floor with a rotating list on the second floor including John Marto and DJ Tek E. The management there has changed hands a few times over the past few years, and now its sole owner is Frank -- the owner of Sophia's upscale Italian restaurant in the theater district. Rumor has it a face lift is coming for the joint, and that's just what it needs. The crowd is extremely high energy here every Saturday, and Mimi Imfurst and I team up to host crazy variety themed shows.

Sundays:
Sundays are pretty much dominated by Alan Picus and New York's most well-known promoter, John Blair. Over the summer Blair and Picus have built up a wild following at Spirit hosting well known DJs on the main floor and making names for others by putting them in as headliners. Vito Fun maintained the hip hop lounge and everything was hoppin'... until... the straight people messed it up for us. A few weeks ago cops closed the door at Spirit for good after repeated drug and alcohol charges. Now, the dynamic duo is moving their party back to Avalon. It seems as though Blair has had his ups and downs with the partners at Avalon, but I must admit I'm really excited to see what it will be like to party the night away at Avalon on Sundays again. The first party starts on Sunday, September 10th. For more info check out www.jblair.blog.

That means you've gotta cram all your studying, resting, sleeping and working into Mondays. Good luck and enjoy your party packed fall!

Gossip Party: Nightclub Edition - Spirit's Closure Moves Party back to Avalon

If you've fallen in love with Sundays at Spirit, we've got some bad news for you!  It's closed for good.  Every cloud has a silver lining though, John Blair and Alan Picus are taking their Sunday night soiree back to Avalon.

They'll be taking this weekend off, and the new party starts one week from Sunday.

John Blair is no stranger to the former Limelight space.  Back in 2001 we partied under the lights at Limelight to his Sunday night sea of Chelsea boys properly labeled, Drama.  Then Blair moved his Drama party to Centro-Fly and announced "major renovations" for Limelight.  In 2002, while remodeling the space; Blair and his colleages came under fire for working with nightclub villan, Marvisi.  Marvisi is most popular for being Peter Gaiten's competition in the club kid days, and he isn't too well liked or respected in the nightclub community.  However, before his fall his empire was nice... we could go on about him, but we'll save it for a different time.

Regardless Blair reopened Limelight as Estate turned Avalon as the "Managing Partner," often accused of being nothing more than Marvisi's figure-head.  Blair publicly distanced himself from Marvisi saying the two weren't partners insisting Marvisi was simply the Promotional Director, there to boost straight party attendance.

In 2005, Blair announced he was leaving Avalon and moving to his one time competitor, Spirit.  Police closed Spirit on Friday, August 25th for alcohol and drug violations. It will interesting to see how Mr. Blair will fit back into the Avalon picture, but you can guarantee its going to be exciting!

This could just be the boost that New York's gay nightlife scene has needed.

Gay Socialites Invade the East Village

The latest New York City college hot spot, Tragic, debuted on Tuesday to a packed house at Boysroom proving that even the youngsters need a little mid-week relief.

This is probably the only nightclub party in New York where you can jam to music from the 80s, 90s and today when you're not playing Nintendo on the big screen in the lounge.  However, the energy from the crowd and the sounds of Sidewalk made it hard to sit for too long!

The college cuties were out in full force making their mark on this new East Village hot spot! "I never knew Tuesdays could be so wild," said party goer Kane Johnson, an NYU Sophomore.

Steve Sidewalk had the house rockin' all night long spinning all the hot pop and rock hits.  The self proclaimed world's first Gay Socialite Ronnie Hokanson kept the crowd happy with 2-for-1 drinks and a set of sexy blonde bartenders.

Tragic runs every Tuesday at Boysroom from 10pm til 4am.  As owner, Mistress Formika Jones says, "Its always 18 to cruise and 21 to booze."

Boysroom is located at 211 Avenue at the corner of 13th Street in New York City's East Village.  For more information, check out gaysocialites.blog.

This Tuesday, the Tragic crew says they have tons of giveaways to help you recover from your Labor Day Weekend.
