Universal AIDS Testing, a Step Forward!
Anthony Lago, reported, the United States Government is proposing that all regular doctor check ups include an AIDS test.
This means that every time that each of us go to the doctor's office, we'll be tested for HIV/ AIDS. Its a bold move, but I strongly support their recommendation.
In today's world, we are all at risk of being infected with HIV and contracting the AIDS virus. In the 80's it was ignored as a 'gay thing,' but today I can say that I'm proud that the government finally realizes that we're all at risk.
I, personally, have been teased for getting tested too often. I figure its better safe than sorry. I pretty much ask to be tested at every check-up. It's not because I have a lot of sexual partners or because I'm promiscous. I get tested, because I want to know.
About 20% of the millions of people who have AIDS don't even know it. That's one statistic in which I don't want to be included! I will admit that I'm a little too paranoid. I mean after all I didn't shower at the gym for three months after I walked in on two guys who were making out in the steam room. I know I can't get infected by seeing two men kiss, but I cringe every time I think about what else might happen there.
The government officials who made this reccomendation have to be commended for their efforts. Sexually active Americans should be voluntarily tested on a regular basis. Tests are covered my most insurance agencies and are given for free at most state health departments.
Most importantly, its vital for everyone to practice safe sex. If you're sexually active, then you are at risk of getting AIDS. Do all that you can to protect yourself now before its too late.
