CBS fired radio host Don Imus following racist remarks
's official, the people (and Oprah) have spoken, and CBS radio has listened by firing Don Imus effective immediately. Reverands Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson met with CBS chief executive
Leslie Moonves to persude the big boss to fire Imus. The rights activists threatened a rally outside CBS headquarters on Saturday and promised to persuade more advertisers to abandon Imus' show.
Sumner Redstone, chairman of the CBS Corp. board and its chief stockholder, told Newsweek that he expected Moonves to "do the right thing," although it wasn't clear what he thought that was.
Imus lost his gig for calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy hos."
Today, Don Imus was forced to report to work Thursday at the MSNBC studios despite the fact that his television simulcast was dropped one day earlier.
Imus was scheduled to start two weeks unpaid suspension next week. Many big name advertisers dropped their names while Oprah bashed him on her Thursday show.
