Rosie O'Donnell quits the View (video included)
Rosie O'Donnell announced on Wednesday that she is not coming back to the View after this season. The ladies convened around the table, and Barbara Walters was sitting right beside Rosie when O'Donnell dropped the bomb that she won't return for another season on the View.
Rosie told Viewers and her co-hosts that she and ABC could not come to terms on a new contract agreement. O'Donnell said she wanted to sign on for one more year, but the network wanted her to stay for three. As a result, they won't be signing a contract at all.
Rosie says she will still serve as a guest host, and she will still host hour long segments on topics that interest her such as autism and depression.
Thanks to O'Donnell, the View has gotten more attention in one year than it has in his whole 10 year run. Her outspoken opinion often sided with co-host Joy Behar and against their counterpart Elisabeth Hasselbeck, while all seem to be geniune friends off the air.
If they really wanted Rosie, don't you think they would have tried a little harder? It is going to take getting someone AMAZING to replace her and retain all of the viewers she attracted.
Rosie will remain as the moderator until mid-June.
