Rosie O'Donnell quits the View three weeks early
ABC Daytime announced Friday that Rosie O'Donnell will not be returning to the View.
"We had hoped that Rosie would be with us until the end of her contract," said Brian Frons, president of ABC Daytime Television, "but Rosie has informed us that she would like an early leave. Therefore, we part ways, thank her for her tremendous contribution to The View and wish her well."
Rosie was expected to leave the show at the end of her contract in June, but after this week's blow-up she isn't returning.
View creator Barbara Walters spoke highly of O'Donnell despite her early split.
"Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at The View. I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change," Walters said.
Despite the rough week, Rosie spoke just as highly of the show and her co-hosts.
"It's been an amazing year and I love all three women," O'Donnell added.
O'Donnell was off Thursday to celebrate wife Kelli Carpenter's 40th birthday. Friday's show was pretaped.
