Man dies after getting stabbed at Duvet in Manhattan
New York Police Department investigators are looking for suspects in the stabbing death of a man outside the Manhattan nightclub, Duvet.
Twenty-five year old Shamel McKinney of Brooklyn died Friday morning from a stab wound to the mid-section.
The NYPD answered an assault call at Club Duvet on West 21st Street shortly after 3:30am on Friday when McKinney came staggering out of the club.
Shamel McKinney was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are looking through surveillance tapes and examining a bloody knife found in a dumpster near Duvet.
The Daily News is reporting that police also want to talk to the rapper Fabolous, a longtime friend of McKinney's who was in the club earlier in the night. It's unclear if the rapper was there when McKinney was attacked or if Fabolous is considered a suspect.
In October 2006, Fabolous was shot after leaving Justin’s, a soul food restaurant just down the street from Duvet at 31 West 21st Street owned by Sean "Diddy" Combs.
Fabolous, whose legal name is John Jackson, was shot once in the right thigh in that case and was later arrested on weapons charges.
