Serendipity 3 closed after live rats and roaches found
The infamous Upper East Side dessert restaurant Serendipity 3 was closed Wednesday when Health Department inspectors found rat droppings, a live mouse and more than 100 roaches. I would hate to be the one who had to count the bugs!
A city health inspector also discovered stagnant water in the basement, and the mouse droppings were found in several parts of the restaurant.
Serendipity 3 has been featured in several movies and is a popular stop for tourists who have been known to wait hours to try their frozen drinks or foot-long hot dogs.
Wednesday's health inspection was the second straight one that Serendipity 3 failed.
The health department would not comment about the closure on Wednesday night.
