Time names Putin 'Person of the Year'
Time magazine has named outgoing Russian President Valdimir Putin as their 2008 Person of the Year.
According to Time.blog, the magazine picked Putin because "if Russia succeeds as a nation-state in the family of nations, it will owe much of that success to one man, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. "
Runners-up for the honor included Al Gore, J.K. Rowling, Hu Jintao and David Petraeus.
