Whats New in Skin Care? Reporting from the Annual Skin Care / Plastic Surgery Meeting

banner.jpg

This week I just wanted to report on whats new in Skin Care. Seems like there's not too much that has changed.

1 - Home Skin Care - NOTHING replaces a good skin care regimen thas customized to your own skin care needs. Don't waste your time going shopping without know what's right for your own skin. Don't try to guess - There are skin care professionals and those that can help you for a reason. DO your reseach before you flip through pages of magazines or adds. I know the temptation is there.

2- SPF - SPF - SPF - We have heard it all before. SPF needs to be applied at all times. Regardless of climate, skin condition, and specially after a facial or chemical peel.

3- Talking about Chemical peels - Exfoliation is excellent for you. It will help your body get rid of cells that are just non functioning and bring bresher cells to the surface. Again consult with a professional to make sure you are doing this properly and dont over exfoliate. Most creams have some form of exfoliation but its nice to every week or two do something nice for you. Again dont go on your own on a shopping spree. use what is right for you.

4- Tanning bed and spray tanning - As usual a big no no. No matter that they say out there. It will speed up the aging process and make you look very undesirable. We have enough skin cancer patients as it it.

5- If you know anyone who has cancer or skin cancer we just partnered with a wonderful organization www.lookgoodfeelbetter.org - To help men, women, and teenagers look better and regain self esteem after going through chemotherapy and other treatments.

6- The battle of the neurotoxins - Botox VS Dysport. There is not a very strong evidence or clinical trial. But from what i have seen so far men should always ask for BOTOX. We gave strong mass muscle which we will benefit more from a more precise product. Dysport can be used as a touch up or as more of a prevention treatment. If you have lines that are more stubburn or need a little more help i'd say BOTOX!!!!
