Mariah Carey didn’t hold anything back when asked if she would consider returning to her old stomping grounds at the judges panel on American Idol for its last season during an appearance on “The Kyle and Jackie O Radio Show.”
Mariah unequivocally blurted out a “Hell no!” adding “that was the worst experience of my life.”
During her time on American Idol, Mariah and fellow judge Nicki Minaj were often pitted against one other even spicing up the live broadcasts with some on-air battles. However, Carey said that wasn’t what made hate her American Idol experience so bad… but it certainly didn’t make things any better.
“I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show.”
“Pitting two females against each other wasn’t cool. It should have been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness,” she added. “I would never want to be involved with it again.”
During the same interview on the popular Australian radio station, Carey described American Idol as “so boring and so fake.”
Both Carey and Nicki quit their gigs as judges on American Idol on the same day. It was the day after that season ended in May 2013.
