gaysocialites.blog's Shealita Babay celebrating her birthday in NYC. Here's her weekend line-up:

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

shealita_coming.jpg

gaysocialites.blog is pleased to announce that our very own Shealita Babay is coming to New York City with weekend to celebrate her birthday!  We're calling it "The Coming of Shealita!"

For those of you who don't know Shealita Babay, she's like a Sarah Palin for the gays.  She isn't afraid to spread love (or hate) in the Lord's name, and she loves to further the GOP agenda.  However, just like Pain, Shealita is strangely likeable.

If you'd like to raise your glass of holy water with Shealita this weekend, she'll be at the F-Word on Friday night and guest hosting "Crisis on 8th Avenue" Saturday night at Elevate.

You can reach Shealita by e-mail shealita@gaysocialites.blog or via Facebook.  Make sure you wish her a Happy Birthday, and join her as she wreaks havoc with weekend if you're in Manhattan!

gaysocialites.blog's theatre critic, Jonathan Warman, quoted on 'Temperamentals' advertisement

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

You know that we here at gaysocialites.blog are not afraid to toot our own horns when we need to give ourselves a little credit!

Today we're tipping our hats to our well renowned theatre critic, Jonathan Warman.  Jonathan is quoted in the latest advertisement for the Temperamentals Off-Broadway!  Check it out below:

tempramentals_ad.jpg

That's major! Do you know how many reviews they read and had to pick from?  Lots!  We're pleased that they quoted our very own Jonathan Warman!  You can read his full review of the Temperamentals here.

A well known figure in the theatre community as an acclaimed director, Warman is the former theatre critic for the New York Blade and HX Magazine (both of which no longer exist).  That's why we say that our amazingly talented theatre critic is our gift from the fall of gay print media!  Thanks for going under, you guys!

Congrats Jonathan, we're proud to have you on our team!

Last day to submit Glammy ballot!

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

glammy_last_day.jpg

If you got a Glammy ballot this year, they're due at the end of the day on Friday.  If you didn't get a ballot, then you should contact Cherry Jubilee via her Facebook page.

Cherry is the woman behind it all, and this year's she's doing it bigger and better than ever!

I've begged for your vote and even given my two cents on my fellow nominees.  Oh that's right, did I forget to mention that I'm nominated for Best Writer/ Blogger.  If you haven't turned in your ballot, then please do so now.  I, of course, would appreciate your vote!

The Glammy's honor those who contribute to gay nightlife.

'Charles on' hits the Anti-Twink and Pink Banana World

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

My syndicated column jumped onto two new websites this week as the Anti-Twink and Pink Banana World picked up Charles On.

Charles On is a weekly syndicated article where I rant and rave about different hot topics.  Several bloggers refer to it as my "gay Andy Rooney rant."  I guess I could see the comparison.

You can read this week's Charles On right here on gaysocialites.blog and weekly at gaysocialites.blog/charles_on and shortly there after on your favorite gay blogs such as the Anti-Twink.

The Anti-Twink and Pink Banana World are both up-and-coming LGBT blogs. Check them out if you have a moment.  If you would like to run Charles On on your website or in your publication, please contact charles@gaysocialites.blog.

Glammy ballots due on November 20th

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

The woman behind nightlife's Glammy Awards, Cherry Jubilee, announced on her Facebook page that November 20th will be the final day to submit your Glammy ballot if you were extended the opportunity to vote.

It's like being a part of an academy or something. I love it and fell honored to be included. If you think you should have received a ballot and didn't, you can always plead your case to Cherry via her Facebook page.

As you probably already know, I've been nominated for Best Blogger/ Writer.  I've even begged for your vote.

Today, I got a little teary eyed as I thought about that list of Glammy nominees in my category.

Last year's winner, Lady Bunny (even though I give her a hard time), is an amazing and talented person.  As a DJ and world renowned drag queen, I don't know where she finds time to keep up such an amazing blog. I actually read it on a regular basis, and it generally makes my day a whole lot more interesting).

Michael Musto (even though he thinks I'm ugly and that my "face could stop a horse in its tracks and make it melt into glue") is a legend in his own time.  Michael Musto was gay before gay was cool, and now he's one of the coolest kids on the block.  I can't thank Musto enough for the free publicity.  If I wouldn't have publicly feuded with Lily Allen this could have been what put my name in the headlines.  Instead it got me crammed at the end of an unrelated article.  I don't give a shit what you say about me, as long as you're talking about me.  Oh, and it's my move - right Musto? Laughing

Moving right along... Perez Hilton is also nominated in my category and, well, is only one of the biggest and most well known bloggers in the world. Need I say more or even need to provide a link? What the hell, here ya go!  There is also another admirable gossip blogger nominated this year, Michael K at Dlisted.blog.  He isn't afraid to say what he's thinking, and you have to admire that!

Linda Simpson also got a Glammy nod this year.  Simpson offers up hilarity on the online magazine, mycomrade.blog, putting her in a category of her own.  Wigs off to Miz Simpson!  Please keep us in the nightlife know!

I'm honored to be nominated against each and everyone of these writers, and I'd be even more honored to beat them and take home this year's Glammy Award for Best Writer/ Blogger!  Please submit your ballot if you haven't, and I'd really appreciate your vote!

I love you all!  Thanks for reading!

Happy Birthday to gaysocialites.blog's own, Anthony Lago

anthony_birthday_09.jpgAnthony Lago, the gaysocialites.blog co-founder and editor-at-large, is celebrating his birthday today!

He's my best friend and one hell of a person. [He may kill me for saying that! He isn't too crazy about the spotlight!]

Here's an interesting fact that few people knew until now: gaysocialites.blog was originally going to be GaySocialite.blog, a website all about Ronnie Hokanson. (Modesty is one of my best qualities.)

Anthony smacked me with a reality check strongly suggesting that we add an 'S' and take the website to a whole new level including all of you, and gaysocialites.blog was born.  He has helped me fulfill my dream of launching an online magazine, and I can't thank him enough.

On Wednesday night, we're all heading to Vlada in New York City to catch "The Blonde Leading the Blonde with Sherry Vine and Epiphany" and a evening of shenanigans with promoters King Ralphy and Jane Leachy to celebrate Anthony's birthday!

Facebook users are encouraged to RSVP on the official invite.  You can find more details about the party there as well!

Vlada is located at 331 W. 51st Street in New York City and offers a complimentary door.

From all of us here at gaysocialites.blog, Happy Birthday Anthony Lago!!

Music Mondays: "Walk on the Wildside" short directed by Stephane Sednaoui [video]

MUSIC MONDAYS

Warning: This video contains nudity and may be NSFW!

Call it a little dab of Shameless Self Promotion, but as we extend our Music Mondays to include more than just new music - I'm plugging this short film by Stephane Sednaoui set to the song "Walk on the Wildside" by Lou Reed.  Oh, and I'm also one of the stars.

For the New York socialites, this one is worth watching all the way through as you'll definitely see some familiar faces in addition to mine!

Stephane Sednaoui is one of the most brilliant video directors of our time having worked with Kylie Minogue, U2, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more!  There was never a music video produced for Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wildside", so Stephane chose to take it to a whole new level with this short film.

It was an honor to work with Sednaoui on this venture, and I can't thank him enough for including me and giving me so much face time!

Oh and in case you're wondering, the nudity in the video is not mine. (You can breathe a collective sigh of relief.) I do, however, have an overdose at the end.  Sorry, didn't mean to give it away.

[Music Mondays is a syndicated column by Ronnie Hokanson, editorial director at gaysocialites.blog.  For more information on running this column on your site, please contact Winters directly at charles@gaysocialites.blog.]

Ronnie Hokanson tweets his way back on the CNN newsroom

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

I love the CNN Newsroom during Rick Sanchez's 3 o'clock hour.

It is the most interactive news program on the web, and I manage to keep tweeting my way on there.  A few months ago, Sanchez spotlighted us for making fun of him.

During the last month, our tweets have made it on their twice.  The first time was when I complimented Drew Griffin for doing a good job as fill in.

Friday, I noticed hottie Don Lemon filling in for Rick... so I decided to give him a shot out.  Don gave us a shout out around 3:40 reading the tweet above and showing my pretty pic on the air!

Thanks Don!

Ronnie Hokanson tweets his way on to CNN's Newsroom

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

Score!  You say something nice about someone, and you get some free publicity.

That's what happened to me on Tuesday when I complimented CNN's Drew Griffin for doing a good job while filling in for Rick Sanchez in the Newsroom.

The 3 o'clock hour on CNN's Newsroom is powered by social networking.  The hosts rely on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and blogs to stack their news rundown.  It's one of my favorite hours on television and not just because they've mentioned gaysocialites.blog and me so many times!

B.L.T's @ Rush?!

Taken from HX

Petey Pig Flames Up at Breakout on Friday Dina Marie Delicious and King Ralphy debuted their new “Breakout” party in association with BoiParty.blog’s $5 Fridays promotion at Rush this weekend. The new colorful cast of characters, including Ronnie Hokanson, DJ John Marto, Skyla Versai and Kitty Litter, livened up the room creating a new diverse crowd that gaysocialites.blog has tagged twinky glam. The party got hot quickly when someone noticed a smokey aroma. OMG! Petey Pig accidentally caught on fire! It was like a scene from an after-school special PSA with trannies, club kids and twinks screaming “Stop, Drop and Roll!”. Thankfully, there were no third degree burns and the Pig had a change of clothes in his car.

Come see King Ralphy, Dina, Yuhua, Jane, Nicho & the kids every Friday @ Rush!

BREAKOUT FRIDAYS @ RUSH

BREAK_OUT_FRIDAYS.png

This Friday, It all goes down!, and really EVERYONE is Talking about it! Come see me, Dina, &Piggy and also Nicho and James Lehey who will be celebrating their birthdays.

FROM HX:

"To all those wondering about Dina Marie’s Facebook posting regarding HK Lounge, we are still a little confused ourselves about all the goings on. Although it has been removed from Facebook, Dina says she stands by her original post. A representative for HK owner Alex Meskouris says “it was just a late-night argument that got out of hand” but called her allegations baseless. Meskouris added he’d welcome Dina back, but for now it appears the Circus party queen has taken her parties elsewhere. Namely to Rush, where she’s teaming up with BoiParty.blog for Breakout Fridays, a new party she hopes will help Rush diversify its clientele. “We don’t mind if the twinks join the fantasy,” she joked “but they better be glamorous.”

PR RELEASE:

NEW YORK- At the end of her latest on-again-off-again stint at HK Lounge and "Dance Spot", Dina Marie Delicious is joining forces with BoiParty.blog on Friday nights to launch "Breakout", a new party in conjunction with the $5 Fridays promotion at Rush in Manhattan.

The party is titled after Dina Marie's upcoming single, "Breakout," as she hopes to help Rush 'break out' of the twinkie mold and welcome a new identity to Friday nights.

"We don't mind if the twinks join the fantasy, but they better be fabulous," Dina Marie joked.

Also on the rundown are King Ralphy, DJ John Marto and Miss Alixandria.

Dina Marie and King Ralphy may be inheriting the $5 promotions with $5 well drinks, cover and domestic beers; but they promise a whole new attitude with a generous dose of glitz and glamour!

Rush features two dance floors and two fully stocked bars complete with scantily clad go-go boys on top.

Dina Marie's next "Circus" party will also be held at Rush on Friday, June 26th - Gay Pride Weekend.

Rush is located at 579 Sixth Avenue between 16th and 17th streets. There is no cover charge until midnight for guys who are over 21 (if you mention this posting), and it's only $5 after. If you're under 21, it's $10 all night.

**It's also NICHO'S && JAMES LEHEY'S BDAY!!!!**

18+

See you there!! xoxo

How Many Licks?!

4206_184906395493_567640493_6913803_4937488_n.jpg

Last Saturday was the last week of the regular "HK Saturdays" party at HK as they make room for Dina Marie Delicious and her Blow Pop party which starts next Saturday!

Finnish pop star Alexandra Alexis impressed the crowd of some of the gay who's who of New York Nightlife including Malik So Chic, Jasen Kaplan, Petey Pig, Yuhua, Zoe Murphy, King Ralphy and gaysocialites.blog's Ronnie Hokanson.

And coming next week: Dina Marie Delicious is taking over HK every Saturday night with her all new Blow Pop party!

Opening week Dina Marie will be joined by co-hosts Jasen Kaplan, Acid Betty, Yuhua, Zoe Murphy, King Ralphy and Jackie "Birdy" as she helps unveil a whole new HK.

Dina Marie has been a pioneer behind the scenes pushing for the expansion of HK, and now her hard work and bitching is paying off!

Even though the name of the establishment will remain HK, Dina Marie says you won't be calling it just a lounge anymore. She's unofficially branded it as the HK Dance Spot. The owners (for whatever reason) don't want us to say much about it there is soon going to be two new rooms. One of which Dina has pinned as the "Blow Pop" lounge, and the other has a dungeon-like, cruisy feel.

It is going to be a big night for HK, and I cant wait!

JoonBug SceneTracker spotlights good friend Jessica Marquez

lucky-strike.jpg

Jessica Marquez is the main blogger of As Good As its Guests, and in fact Jessica was one of two marketing reps behind my first party with Jasen Kaplan and Jason Preston. Geez it seems like years ago! Jessica and I have shared many late nights together as well as many step and repeats, above we're pictured at the opening of Lucky Strike Lanes. Here's what JoonBug has to say:

"Joonbug is pleased to announce our first guest blogger Jessica- a freelance writer in NYC, as well as event planner/charity organizer, founder of www.asgoodasitsguests.blog and an all around girl-about-town. She attended the University of Miami where she earned a degree in Journalism/English Literature and mastered in Beer Pong. For Joonbug.blog, she writes about her adventures in nightlife, and the trials and tribulations of having more guy friends than girls. Fratastic at times... maybe, exciting and fun... definitely!"

HX Magazine reports that Sunday could be the last Hot Mess

SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

There's a gossip among us! No, seriously. We're all gossipers, so how can we expect our own secrets to stay tight?

HX Magazine reports that this Sunday could be the last Hot Mess party:

Finally, all you kids thinking about putting off Hot Mess this weekend better get your asses over to Porky’s, ’cause this could be your last chance! A little bird tells us that Sunday night’s mess fest will likely be the last, as behind-the-scenes tensions mount. Sounds like things are getting messy!

Is it true? Let me clarify one thing... part of HX's dish is true. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

It can't hurt to soak in Porky's for one last time this Saturday just in case!

Hot Mess @ Porky's is located at 55. W. 21st Street in NYC.

Dear Play2Win

Yes, I'm a pretty funny guy; but I write this piece in all seriousness. It's a cry out for help.... by both me and the new CW Show, Play2Win. Keep reading, then you'll understand.

Dear Executive Producers of Play2Win:

At first your game was nothing more than a train wreck that I had to keep watching over and over, then suddenly I realized that the show has a lot of potential. You just need some comic relief. The mummified girls are perfect for the beer-bellied straight man, but trust me he's falling alseep by 2am. Every late night show needs a few good gay men. We appeal to the gays (who are up at this time getting high and buying things on QVC) and the ladies (strange, but true).

I mean, seriously, look at the late night rundown: Will & Grace leads into Frasier, According to Jim, South Park, then Play2Win. Don't get me wrong, I see the trend to compete with Adult Swim on Comedy Central; but imagine the potential that your sometimes boring show could have with two gay guys!

My gay best friend and I would be perfect for your show. We would spark some controversy (not because we're gay, but because we argue about everything). Throw Ronnie Hokanson and Anthony Lago (that's a cheap drop of our names) on the show for at least one segment. We'll liven up the audience and piss some people off. That's all that show needs.

We offer our services, and you can e-mail me at for more information. We can start tonight.

Best,
Ronnie Hokanson

My gay best friend and I would be perfect for your show. We would spark some controversy (not because we're gay, but because we argue about everything). Throw Ronnie Hokanson and Anthony Lago (that's a cheap drop of our names) on the show for at least one segment. We'll liven up the audience and piss some people off. That's all that show needs.

We offer our services, and you can e-mail me at for more information. We can start tonight.
